The Mountain Challenge is a special NASTAR race on an extended course from the top of the mountain. This event is sponsored by the Western Pennsylvania Ski Council and Allegheny Ski & Sports Club Inc.   Those participating get two runs down the special course, a lunch coupon and a chance for prizes.

The cost if registered by 6 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 22, is $15. After that, the price rises to $25.   Members of WPSC member clubs signing up for the race can get a coupon for an all-day lift ticket for the race day for only $30. Spouses of registrants also can receive the discounted rate lift ticket.

People can register in advance at www.assconline.net (click on WPSC Mountain Challenge) and pay with a credit card. The registration form also is available for download on the website.

This fun event is open to skiers, snowboarders and telemarkers of all ability levels.

All participants must sign a waiver form, and a parental signature is required for those under 18 years old.

The awards party will be 3 p.m. in Mueller’s Pub in the ski lodge.
